Most questions are about what the app is allowed to touch and how to undo a decision. Both are answered below.

Where do deleted photos go?

Deletions are performed through Apple Photos, so removed items land in Recently Deleted and stay recoverable there under Apple's retention window. Photo Triage never deletes without your explicit confirmation.

The scan found fewer photos than I expected

Version 1.0 scans the most recent 1,000 photos. If you granted Limited Library access, only the photos you selected are visible to the app, and you can extend that selection from inside the app or in iOS Settings.

Can I change the suggested keep?

Yes. Long-press any photo in the group and choose Make Suggested Keep. Favorites are preferred by the default suggestion and stay protected from casual delete selection. Your confirmation still decides what is deleted.

How is this different from the Duplicates album in Apple Photos?

The Duplicates album in Apple Photos (iOS 16 and later) is built for exact copies and merges them for you. Photo Triage is for the near-identical shots it usually skips, such as bursts, retakes, and the same moment shot several times. Each group gets a suggested keep with a reason, and you confirm what goes. The two work well together: merge exact copies in Photos, then use Photo Triage for similar shots.

How is the suggested keep chosen?

Favorites always win. Otherwise the app compares on-device sharpness and face signals from thumbnails and shows why it picked that photo, such as sharper or has a face. When no photo is clearly better, it says so instead of guessing. All of this runs on your iPhone.

I hit the free daily limit

The free tier scans the most recent 1,000 photos and includes three group cleanups per day. The limit resets daily. The Lifetime unlock removes the cleanup cap with a single purchase and no subscription.

How do I restore a purchase?

Use Restore Purchases on the paywall or in Settings inside the app. Restore unlocks Lifetime if your Apple Account owns the purchase.

Refunds

Purchases are processed by Apple, so refund requests go through Apple's report a problem flow rather than through us.
